The Vans South Africa skate team consisting of Joubert van Staden, Dennis Collins, Ethan Cairns, Alex Williams, Devandre Galant and Yann Horowitz, joined by photographer Grant McLachlan, made the road trip from Cape Town to Pretoria for the Street Lines Skate Tournament.
The trip, totalling six days, saw the team hit as many spots as possible along the way stopping in Paarl, Worcester, Beaufort West, Colesberg and Bloemfontein.

Highlights included the Handrail in Paarl, the Colesberg ditch (suggested by Alan Marola), and Stuart Walker’s backyard concrete mini-ramp in Bloem. Bloem CBD is flooded with spots that the crew used to their advantage to get some clips.
Alex, Devandre and Ethan have no problem skating a 9 Stair Rail straight out the car without warming up, and within a few minutes bangers were thrown down, with Ethan being the MVP on the rail.
A successful weekend in Pretoria saw the team walk away with two podium positions at Street Lines (Ethan in 1st and Devandre in 2nd), not to mention the Team’s girls claiming 1st (Boipelo Awuah) and 3rd (Melissa Williams).
With SD cards happily filled with content and smiles all round, the team set out on their trip back to Cape Town.
