ASLEEP IN TRANSIT is a new Durban-based indie-pop band who find their inspiration in the beauty of ordinary moments, and whose whimsical style and unmistakable charisma is fast making them one of Durban’s favourite exports.

This year Angels of Rock was taken through the roof by eight amazing acts, namely Aneva, Only When It Rains, Holly and the Woods, Cortina Whiplash, The Arrows, Louise Carver, Karen Zoid and Flash Republic.

We caught up with Lonehill Estate’s (very jet lagged) Nathan Ro following his return from the band’s trip to the States. As we mentioned earlier this year, our favourite crazy musos were invited to perform at the esteemed Musexpo in Hollywood. The band also gigged at the famous Viper Room to along with The Graeme Watkins Project (see pics). From the sounds of things – it was quite the trip. Nathan tells us about performing, the size of shooters in the US and J-Lo using the shower in their green room…

As promised last week, here is our interview with rock-a-billy sensation, Peachy Keen. The band chats to us about their EP, Backseat Bingo amongst other things (like Sailor Jerry rum, tattoos and pin up girls). Peachy Keen will be launching their EP this Friday, 11th of May at Mercury Live – so if you’re in Cape Town we recommend it – it sounds like it’s gonna be a fat jol! Entrance is only R40.00 (or R100.00 with a copy of Backseat Bingo) and doors open at 9pm.

Since 2007, this Joburg band has been rocking local audiences in and around the City Of Gold. Now in 2012 Only Forever are back from a little hiatus with a line-up change and a new album – Horizons Sets Fire – ready to conquer new audiences. The first single Black Sunday is gonna drop soon, so we decided to chat to bass-player Nick Gibbs about recording, touring and all that other band stuff…
