Stop 1 of the Ramp Rodeo BMX and Skate Invitational fueled by Monster Energy took place at the SA Bike Festival over the weekend. The contest saw the country’s top athletes go head to head in a jam style format on the mini-ramp setup course with added features.

In the Skateboarding category it Alan Marola that dominated the field throughout the weekend, qualifying in 1st place and going on to take the win. Khule Ngubane qualified in 7th but put it together in the final heats to meet Marola in the final and finish in 2nd place. Trae Rice did well to improve on his 5th place qualifier and finished 3rd in the final.

Moses Adams won the Best Trick award with a Blindside Tre-Flip to fake over the channel gap.

The BMX contest was a heated battle all weekend with riders throwing down technical tricks and lines. Murray Loubser and Malcolm Peters were the stand out riders resulting a closely contested battle between the two. In the qualifying round it was Peters who took the top position from Loubser but in the final Loubser fought back to take the top step with Peters finishing 2nd. Vincent Leygonie and Kyle Kiewiet impressed the judges and finished in 3rd and 4th respectively.

Kyle Kiewiet walked away with the Best Trick award with a massive 360 Tailwhip Transfer.
The inaugural Ramp Rodeo event was a great success and we look forward to stop 2 of the invitational. Keep posted for details.
