It’s been a long time coming! We finally get to present Nasiphi Mbedla to our as our LW Babe of the Week. We get to know more about her in our interview below.
Full name: Nasiphi Mbedla
Nickname: Nas
Age: 25
Hometown: Johannesburg
Day job: Account Executive
Likes: Ballads, anything of the arts, animals, good vibes, beautiful souls, and deep, tearful conversations at 1am in the morning
Dislikes: Negativity, abuse in all it’s forms to all living things, social constructs and coconut
Special talents: I sing a little, act a little, move to a rhythm a little too.
Give us a quick introduction to Nasiphi?
I’m loyal, bubbly, sarcastic, fun and extremely moody. I love a good time and don’t understand bad vibes. I like to model and do my makeup with the intention of being a completely different me [laughs]. I’m just here trying to figure this whole life thing out, how much of what I want is me and how much is conditioning.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
I have an irrational fear of balloons. It’s not bad but I cannot blow up a balloon to save my life and hate it when kids play with them near me.
If you could have grown up in any country, which would it have been and why?
Japan, it’s my dream holiday destination and from the little I know of the culture, I have fallen in love.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Happy, fulfilled and living a life of purpose, freedom of expression and truth. Whatever that looks like [laughs].
What drives you?
My family, and that I exist for a reason.
What does a day in your lockdown life consist of?
Working from home, a lot of eating, cooking and foolishness with my baby sisters.
What’s the first thing you’re going to do once lockdown is lifted?
Technically…go back to work [laughs], but other than that, I will take the longest afternoon walk to nowhere for as long as I want.
What is your favourite part of being in front of the camera?
I love bringing the photographer/ makeup artist/ creative director/ team’s vision to life, or providing a better, unexpected perspective. It allows me to release some creative juices, relearn where my confidence lies, revisit my insecurities and find new beautiful things about myself. It’s a whole self love journey but the fun way. It’s just really cool to look at an image and see what beauty a person chose to capture and bring forward. Beauty is something so fragile and temporary but this way it’s a little more permanent. I might need that as a reminder later in life [laughs].
How would you best explain sex appeal?
Owning every single thing about yourself and being comfortable in it all, and then amplifying your sensuality and assets. Boom, drops mic! Work it yaaasss.
What type of person do you find yourself attracted to?
I don’t make the rules, attraction just happens and I go along, but people who enjoy a good, open and long winded conversation are pretty attractive. Oh, a person who spreads love and positivity as much as they can is a win!
If you could hang out with anyone you follow on Instagram, who would it be?
I would hang out with my friends, I can’t choose just one of them because I miss them all dearly.
Leave us with some words of inspiration?
You are always enough. Enough to take the next step, overcome the next challenge, enough to move on, get back up, enough to be loved – you are good enough for whatever it is.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention:
Intriguing? The universe and our existence.
Turn on? Calves and respect.
Secret? The inner workings of our society.
Hate? Abusers. All of them. Emotional, Sexual, Animal…All. Of. Them.
Good times? Before Covid-19.
Freedom? Before and hopefully after Covid-19 as well.
