You are one of SA’s hottest DJs – do you think you get a better crowd response, especially from guys because of that?
Yes and no. Yes because “boys will be boys” and no because “boys will be boys” and some are threatened by the fact that sex sells and so female DJs do gain a slight advantage behind the decks. However saying that, I must admit my crowd response is heightened by all the hot ladies shaking their booties on my dance floor. When playing to a group of party people, my main focus is the ladies, keeping my music sexy with a dirty baseline keeps the ladies naughty on the floor, naturally the guys will follow – and that’s my secret recipe for a hot, sexy, rocking dance floor.
What’s your perfect set?
Two hours of sexy house flowing into throbbing tech beats enjoyed by a crazy half-naked dance floor on the beach at sunset.
What’s the craziest thing that has ever happened to you in the DJ box?
Ha-ha! [blushes] Now that would be telling… let’s just say I have had my fair share of fun behind the ones and twos!
Do you have any specific outfits that you like to perform in?
Yes, depending on the alias…
FIRE AND ICE : Burlesque, sexy corsets or very small cocktail dresses.
MAYDAY : We’re dirty cops, so anything rough and tough with some sex appeal, something along the lines of Lara Craft.
RED MERI: Edgy but sexy
DJ Kirsti: I like to stick to short dresses, lots of bling, lots of colour.
Explain the feeling of having a crowd respond to your music the way you want them to?
FEELS LIKE MORE… it’s addictive and provokes a wild minx inside me to come out and party my ass off. There is NOTHING better than the sound of people having THE BEST TIME! I live for it! “Throw your OFF button away and call mom to let her know we won’t be home for breakfast!”
What is a turn on for you?
Being able to move my body to any sexy tech house beats, dressed in a little number made of material that rubs my body as I move. Having hungry eyes watching would definitely increase the intensity… and I wouldn’t stop a sexy lady friend from joining me on the floor for a bit of a dance. Damn! Did i say that out loud? That was meant to be a thought!
What is a day in the like of Kirsti like?
ANYONE who knows me will tell you – ABSOLUTE CHAOS…adventurous, entertaining but very exhausting!

OH YES I DO!
What’s the longest set you have played?
10 hours at a gig, 15 hours at a house party.
Any upcoming gigs that you are excited about?
Red Meri (Dj Kirsti and Redwood) gig coming up on Friday night at Limelite, Bedforview… will include cutting, scratching, mixing and beat boxing. We will be filming too!
What do you do with your time off?
What’s time off? Ha-ha! Can you eat it? Besides DJing, I also run an advertising agency and charity so I’m pretty hectic all the time.

Many international gigs to come as well as radio and television.
