Southern Africa’s premier Snowboard and Ski Festival is back. Winter Whip presented by LW Mag in association with Andiamo Spritz, GoPro, Red Bull and DC Shoes returns to the Afriski Mountain Resort in the Kingdom of Lesotho and takes place from 28 – 31 July 2022.
The event will play host the sports’ top athletes, with the core of the event being the Slopestyle competition that takes place on the Saturday. The jam-format Snowboarding and Skiing Slopestyle competition brings together some of the continent’s best athletes, and provides a fun-filled weekend for those participating, as well as those supporting
The competition includes categories in the Men, Women, Junior and Ski divisions. Competitors will compete on the specifically designed and laid out Kapoko Park course that consists of rails, boxes and kickers with judges taking technicality, style and use of course into consideration when awarding points. Podium finishers stand in line to win cash and prizes and product from the various event sponsors.
Winter Whip organiser, Ryan van der Spuy says, “After a two year ‘forced break’, we’re excited to get back to our mountain playground for four days of Snowboarding and Skiing fun, and to celebrate the return of this premier winter sports event. Winter Whip is back, and we extend a big thank you to our event partners for making this possible.”
Over and above the core Slopestyle competition, competitors and resort guests can expect good vibes on the slope thanks to the Red Bull DJ’s and the highlight Andiamo Spritz Party on the Snow. Celebrations will continue throughout the day and into the night at the official after party at the resort’s Gondola Café.
