South African Music – Rock band Wake To Wonder have just released their music video for their single “Descarify” and we think it ROCKS. We have it right here for you to check out, followed up with a short interview with the band about the music video and the filming of it. Enjoy:
How long did the filming of the music video for Descarify take?
The video was shot over a couple of weeks at various venues including Arcade Empire in Pretoria, Tanz café in Johannesburg, our practice place above Rafterz (016 studios) in Vanderbijlpark and random shots at band members houses.
Tell us what the song Descarify is about and what were the lyrics influenced by?
In 2012 we toured Europe, one of our stops on tour was at the ADAC MX Masters (Germany) where we performed. The organizers approached us and asked us to write the theme song for the 2012 ADAC MX Masters series. This was a great honour for us and we began work on the song as soon as we landed back in South Africa. The lyrics are all about living your dream no matter how difficult it may get. It’s about showing the people that push you down that you are going to do it regardless of their opinion and accomplishing your goals even if it means you pick up some scars along the way.
What did you try to capture in the music video?
In previous music videos we went for a scripted angle expressing the song through an actor or actress, we wanted to give our fans a look at how we are on tour and in our daily lives without the fancy makeup and special effects.
How does the band feel being in front of the camera?
We have always worked with friends in our music videos so it has always felt natural. It’s almost like we are hanging out but there are camera’s involved.
What was the most embarrassing to happen during the shooting of the video?
I think Grant accidentally hit Graeme in the head with his guitar, it was more of a joke gone wrong.
Where can fans catch Wake To Wonder in the upcoming months?
We are currently recording our 2nd album (Entitled Descarify) which we will be releasing in May 2013. We will follow this up with numerous tours around South Africa and if all goes well we will be touring overseas again. We are so excited about the songs on this album and we cannot wait to share it with everyone!
