Having previously won the Mother of Hard Enduro in 2012 and again in 2014, Sherco Liqui Moly Racing’s Wade Young came back with purpose and conquered the mountains of Lesotho by winning the 50th edition of the Motul Roof of Africa.

Having lead from the start, Young put on a solid charge in the final climb to pull away from fellow South African Travis Teasdale who came in just over 10 minutes behind the leader. 2nd place went to Brother Leadertread KTM’s Travis Teasdale who watched a chance for victory disappear within sight of the finish when his biked dropped off a ledge while battling up Soldiers Way.

The first International rider home was Rockstar Husqvarna’s Graham Jarvis. The fast and flowing pace of this year’s race didn’t work in his favour. Jarvis made up time on the technical passes to catch up to the leaders but had to settle for 3rd place.

Bidvest bLU cRU Yamaha’s Blake Gutzeit was hot on the heel of Jarvis but in the end it wasn’t enough and he finished the race in 4th place. Red Bull KTM’s Alfredo Gomez was also caught out by the fast pace of this year’s event and crossed the line in 5th place.

Pepson Plastics Husqvarna’s Sandra Gomez placed 30th overall and tasted victory in the unofficial Ladies battle between her and South Africa’s Kirsten Landman (Brother Leadertread KTM, placing 39th.
