Thousands of music-lovers braved the sweltering heat and turned out for Vodacom In The City on Sunday. VITC2015 kicked off the summer festival season with a new format compared to previous years, taking place at Emmarentia Dam under the Joburg sunshine.

Open The City winners, Grassy Spark kicked the live performances off and got the crowd into the day’s mood with their infectious and diverse sound. Al Bairre took over with their hippy vibes and where joined, for the first time ever, by P.H.fat to perform their collab “Caviar Dream”. P.H.fat then owned the stage with their hard-hitting rhymes.

The first of the international acts to grace the stage was Australia’s The Cat Empire who delivered and had the enthusiastic crowd lapping up their unique sounds of reggae, jazz, Latin, funk, hip hop and gypsy.

Milky Chance were incredible and brought the perfect energy to the Sunday festival. Their entire set was vibey and their popular hits “Down By The River” and “Stolen Dance” were highlights of the day.

Returning to Joburg, The Kooks closed with an awesome high-energy set. With the sun setting over the venue, a welcomed cool breeze in the air and the masses singing along to “Naïve”, VITC2015 was a truly unforgettable experience.

We’re already looking forward to see what Vodacom In The City has planned for 2016.
