Round 7 of the 2022 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup season took place over the weekend in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada. A long, technical and challenging track produced one of the most exciting races of the season.
In the Elite Men’s race Amaury Pierron was third fastest in qualifying behind Finn Iles and South African Greg Minnaar but crashed in his race run crossing the line in 26th place. Laurie Greenland put down a superb early run that would ultimately see him finish in 2nd place. The rest of the field tried and failed to get the better of Greenland with Aaron Gwin finishing five seconds behind and Bernard Kerr half a second behind Gwin.
Troy Brosnan upped the ante and managed to get within three seconds of Greenland. Greg Minnaar was on pace but hit a tree near the end of his run to end in 30th. The pressure was on the home favourite Finn Iles, however he dug deep to edge out Greenland by just 0.238s for a famous victory.

In the Elite Women’s race Eleonora Farina set the fastest time from the earlier riders with Jess Blewitt settling into second place over 10 seconds behind with the last four riders set to go. Myriam Nicole was next out of the start gate, but she got a flat rear tyre after she was up at the first three splits. Nina Hoffman put together a brilliant run third last down to beat Farina by over a second and take the lead, however Monika Hrastnik could not put it together to finish in 5th. Valentina Höll was last to go after topping qualifying and she held her nerve to go up at every course split for victory over Hoffman by over three seconds.
