Round 2 of the 2022 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup season took place over the weekend at the infamous Fort William track in Scotland. Windy, wet weather made for difficult track conditions but that did not deter from producing an exciting and closely fought race.
In the Elite Men’s race Amaury Pierron produced a sensational run to remain undefeated after two rounds of the 2022 World Cup season. Pierron’s speed and guile, and time of 4:37.115, down the slippery course was enough to hold off compatriot Thibaut Daprela, who finished in 2nd just +0.469 seconds off the winning time, and Laurie Greenland who finished in 3rd +0.916 seconds behind.
Benoit Coulanges came in 4th with Matt Walker finishing in 5th. South Africa’s Greg Minnaar and Christopher Philogene crossed the line in 7th and 25th respectively.
