The fifth Round of the 2021 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup season took place in Snowshoe, West Virginia, USA. The first and only double-header of the season saw the first race take place on Wednesday.
In the Men’s race the Top 10 were seperated by just over 2 seconds. It was Reece Wilson who put down a near perfect run to edge our Loic Bruni by just 0.032 seconds to take his first World Cup win. Loris Vergier managed to claim 3rd place and score valuable season points, as championship leader Thibaut Daprela crashed out in his race run due to a mechanical (front wheel collapsing). The championship is down to the wire with one round left.
World Champion Greg Minnaar crashed in qualifying injuring his shoulder, which unfortunately saw him pull out of the race.

In the Women’s race Vali Höll won her first elite World Cup race ahead of Camille Balanche in 2nd and Marine Cabirou in 3rd. Myriam Nicole, who had qualified fastest and was the last rider down the hill, was on pace for another win but a crash put an end to her incredible run and she crossed the line in 4th place.
