Video | 2020 Downhill MTB World Cup Lousa #2 Podium Runs

This past weekend saw another double-header round of the 2020 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup season tale place in Lousa, Portugal. Round 4 took place on Sunday 1 November on a track hailed as one of the best in recent history resulting in a close and thrilling race.

In the Men’s race Jamie Edmondson took the hot seat with a time of 3:56.332, and with rain playing havoc at the top of the mountain would remain in the lead for quite some time. Matt Walker, the third last down the hill, was be the first to break Edmondson’s time crossing the line in 3:55.703 to take the hotseat. Next up was Greg Minnaar who again was on top form and put down an incredible run with a time of 3:54.458 to take the lead. Loic Bruni was the final man down the hill and was behind at the second split but managed to pull it back at the line to beat Minnaar by just 0.170 to take the win on the day.

In the Women’s race Nina Hoffman set down a time of 4:25.064 and seemed to be heading to victory as Tracey Hannah, in the final race of her illustrious career, pushed too hard and came off the bike with the finish line in sight. Marine Cabirou was next up and threw down a tidy run to better Hoffman’s time by a staggering 1.702 seconds. Tahnée Seagrave was up at the first split but eventually had to settle for 3rd place with a time of 4:25.771. Myriam Nicole would cross the line 4th.
