The fourth stop of the 2019 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup took place in VallnordAndorra over the weekend. A dry, loose, steep and technical track tested the riders throughout the weekend and by the time race runs took to the course it was completely blown out.

The French were again unstoppable in the Men’s Final. Loris Vergier was absolutely electric, getting loose in the dust but remaining upright and precise, and looking absolutely unbeatable by posting a time of 4:11.478. Troy Brosnan had a good go and was up on Vergier’s time at the first split, but lost a little further down the hill to finish 1.2 seconds slower with a time of 4:12.257. The pressure was on the last man down the hill, Loïc Bruni but the top qualifier matched Vergier’s speed and added even more finesse to take the win with a time of 4:11.055. South Africa’s Greg Minnaar finished just outside the top 10 in 11th with his time of 4:20.414.

Due to her crash in qualifying, series leader, Tracey Hannah was on course early in the Women’s Finals. She nailed the upper sections of the track and kept her focus through the hardest, steepest mid-section. Unfortunately, a small crash close to the finish line would put her into 3rd place with her time of 5:07.753. Marine Cabirou was clean and fast down the entire course finishing just 2.4 seconds behind Rachel Atherton to take 2nd place with a time of 5:03.119. Rachel Atherton stuck to her lines through the tricky steeps and put together the winning time of 5:00.622.
