Today sees the release of the debut EP by TiMO ODV, Origins. We caught up with the singer/ songwriter/ producer to get some insight into the EP and its release.

Taking things back to 3 years ago, would you ever dream that you would be where you are now?
Never, I didn’t even think it was possible for my genre of dance music to gain such popularity in South Africa.
What do you think was/ is the main contributing factor to your success as an artist?
People liked what I was doing, it was different and something they hadn’t heard from another South African before.
What have been some of your highlights if 2016?
My SAMA nomination was cool, but my highlight has been being able to do what I love full time.
What goes through your mind when you think of the release of your debut EP, Origins?
I guess I’m excited to see the reaction, it’s more forward thinking. I think I have stayed true to myself as a music producer.
How much work as actually gone into this EP and what does it mean to you?
More work than most people will ever realise. It means a lot to me because this is the first big part of me, and my music, that I’m putting out there, and it’s different.
How many tracks will the EP feature?
9 Tracks – 2 remixes and 7 original.
What can fans expect for Origins?
Big Basslines and TiMO Vocals.
In your opinion, which track do you think will be your next hit single?
Dunno. I don’t float my own boat and call my songs hits, that’s up to the radio and the people who listen to the music.
When writing songs, where do you draw your inspiration?
I don’t think you sit down at any particular point and get inspiration. Writing songs is a full time process whether you’re in a car taking notes, or in the studio.
How would you best describe your music?
Bassy, dancey, vibey unts unts.
What can we expect next from TiMO ODV?
My new EP, Origins.
