Having recently defended his South African Downhill MTB title, Theo Erlangsen is now living it up in Europe and mixing it up with the best of the best. Theo is also on a new bike and he was kind enough to run us through the new ride…

Frame – I’m running the 29 Supreme frame from Commencal. The pivot and kinematics are on point, it eats up all the braking bumps and square edges on track.
Fork – Fox 49 Fork with a FIT GRIP2 damper. It’s my first time running these and I’m really loving them so far.
Shock – Fox DH X2 coil rear shock. The orange coils are pretty light these days so they’re worth running.

Brakes – SRAM Code RSC brakes. I’ve struggled a little bit with them this but that comes with the territory of building a new setup.
Bars – Spank Spike Vibrocore 800. I’ve been riding these since DarkFEST and I must say I really like the bar roll and the sweep on them. They’re super comfortable.
Rims – Spank 350/359 Vibrocore Tuned Wheelset.
Tyres – Maxxis Minion DHR II 2.4. They roll super quick.

Drivetrain – SRAM X0 Drivetrain paired with an Ultralight cassette. Makes for super smooth pedalling every time.
Pedals – Shimano DX pedals, They’re always really reliable and run dialled.
Cranks – Truvativ Descendant cranks. I’m sticking to the aluminium cranks because I learnt the hard way with my last pair of carbons.
