This weekend, 11th and 12th of March, nine of the countries best Wakeskaters have been invited to the Umtamvuna River Lodge in Port Edward, not only compete for the title of The Backyard Sessions champion but also to grow the sport among the youth of the South Coast.
The hosts, Umtamvuna River Lodge and The Boarder Post have partnered with neighbouring primary schools to give them a day where they can not only watch the best in the country but also interact and learn from them.
The contest kicks off on Friday with official practice and qualifying in the afternoon and the main event starts from 9am on the Saturday morning.
Kids: R20 (this includes a wakeboarding and wakeskating lesson along with a skateboarding lesson and free use of all the facilities around the Lodge)
Adults: R30.
Confirmed riders: Matti Buys, Darren Turner, Kaylib Louw, Sean Bacon, Troy Allers, Justin White, Dale Niuewstad, Miles Peach, and the host himself, Kevin Dry.
