Last weekend saw the penultimate round of the Supadrift Series take place in Mahukeng for the first time. The drifting action took place in the parking lot of the Mmabatho Stadium and had the 5000 plus crowd fixated and screaming for more.
In the top 16 battle mechanical problems crept in during the tussle between Mathys Naude and Rudi van den Berg when Rudi’s RX7 gave hassles and he lost to Naude. Other battles in the top 16 saw Wade van Zummerun take on Alex Simon and finish victorious, Jim McFarlane also finished victorious against Dorne Britz. Dez Gudzeit was held off by Paolo Gouveia who took the win.

Moving into the top 8, Jim McFarlane went up against series leader, Jason Webb which saw Webb take the win. Mike Radloff took the win over Paolo Gouviea, Wade van Zummerun over Naude and Shane Gutzeit over Sean February.

Mike Radloff faced Jason Webb and Shane Gutzeit took on Wade van Zummerun in the semi finals. Van Zummerun and Webb took top points and went into the final to face each other. Mechanical problems again played a role in the race which saw Van Zummerun destroy his diff during initiation and hand the win over to Jason Webb.

This was Jason Webb’s fifth win in a row and he has now cemented his lead in the national championship.
