SupaDrift Series 03 Race Report

The AutoTrader Supadrift Series hit Cape Town for the first time on Saturday (12 April) for the 3rd installment of its 2014 season. GrandWest Casino played host to SA’s premier drifting championship seeing the best in the game gather to battle it out on the parking lot street course.

Round 3 of the Supadrift Series hit Cape Town with insane drifting action
Over 5000 fans were on hand to support the competitors and get their chance to experience top class sideways drifting action. History was made as Clare Vale, the only female competitor, made it into the Top 8 for the first time. Vale however lost to Shane Green in the quarter final due to a problematic initiation.

Drifting at its best in Cape Town
A close upset saw George Myburgh take on 2013 champion Jason Webb in an awesome semi final battle that saw sensational drifting by Myburgh. Webb put in a tight run around the course when he was leading to put himself ahead of Myburg in points.

In the second semi final local driver, Shane Green went head to head with Wade van Zummeren. The huge crown support for Green pushed the driver to challenge the 2012 champion in and exciting duel. Despite the call for a One More Time battle, Van Zummeren was awarded the win by the judges thanks to his tight lines and crazy angles.

Cape Town fans were treated to some top class drifting action
The Jason Webb vs Wade van Zummeren final proved to be an epic one but it was Van Zummeren that came out on top. Webb had to settle for 2nd while 3rd went to Shane Green.
