Round 2 of the 2014 Auto Trader SupaDrift Series hit Port Shepstone at the infamous Dezzi Raceway on Saturday, 29th March, in what was a day filled with sideways drifting action with 34 of SA’s top drivers taking to the track to race for top honours and valuable series points.
The field put their skills to the test during the qualifying rounds in determination if making it to the top 16. Shane Gutzeit, a top 4 contender from round 1, failed to qualify due to a crash in practice. Jonathan Rudman had a slow tactic during his initiation which saw Jim McFarlane protest against Rudman in the quarter finals. Rudman knocked McFarlane out and proceeded to the semi-finals, the battle was named the best battle of the day.
Round 1 winner, Wade van Zummeran, had to retire after his quarter final run due to a broken tie-rod-end. The dying light of the day could not stop or tame Rudman who went on to take the overall victory ahead of Jason Webb who finished in 2nd place.
12 April will see the 3rd round of the SupaDrift Series take place in Cape Town at GrandWest. For more info visit www.supadrift.co.za.
