The Rock Raceway in Gauteng was the location for the first round of the 2014 Auto Trader SupaDrift Series and what an action packed day it was. The 2014 season has seen a record number of drivers enter the country’s premier drifting series and round 1 was an adrenaline fueled event with a host of collisions, 10 in total to be exact.

The first round is always an exciting one with drivers testing out their skills against others to see who is on form for the upcoming season. Shane Gutziet finished with top qualifying points but had to retire in the finals due to a broken diff. Collisions included Gearge Myburgh getting connected by Dave Nell and Vic Pardal’s E36 was torn apart by Riaz Alibhai.

Wade van Zummeren, last year’s season runner up, took the overall ahead of Mathys Naude who finished in an impressive 2nd. Hannes Frans finished off the podium by taking the automatic win over Shane Gutzeit’s DNF and took 3rd place.

Drivers are already gearing up for the next race day which will be taking place on the 29th March 2014 in Port Shepstone at the Dezzi Raceway. Keep posted for more details.
