Solid Air Ride Systems

The very awesome Solid Air 2 Tower system is now up and running at StokeCity WakePark in Midrand. We had the chance to check out the system just after it was erected and it is nothing less than amazing, offering a new take on cable Wakeboarding and Wakeskating. Pro Wakeboarder Justin Mitri was on hand to put the system through its paces.

How it works:
The Solid Air system is a straight-line cable system. Two towers are setup with a cable running between both over a body of water. An electronic motor drives the cable which slows down at one end and reverses direction instead of passing through the pulley. Riders can edge out when the cable slows and make a full turn keeping tension on the handle then continue riding behind the carrier. This provides a continuous tow up and down the course.

The benefits:
The system is pure brilliant allowing the operator to adjust the speed and turnaround point at any time. This is the best way to learn to Wakeboard or Wakeskate and will have any beginner up and riding within a session. This does not mean the system is for beginners only. Advanced riders can use the system as a great training tool for learning and doing air tricks. The two vertically parallel cables give greater tension and a smoother pull.

The learning curve is much greater that using a boat or even a full size cable. Kickers and sliders can be placed, and riders can hit the course infinitely. If you fall it picks you up straight away. The Solid Air system can basically be placed over any body of water either as a permanent system or portable system.
