Skateboarding for Hope Tour Soweto Review

Over 60 skates gathered at Walter Sisulu Square in Soweto on Youth Day, 16th June, for the Skateboarding for Hope Tour powered by 5FM. The event brought together some of the best skaters from Joburg and the surrounding areas, all competing for the chance to to win a wild card entry to the Am contest at the Kimberly Diamond Cup Championships in October.

In the under 16 division at was Jeremy Stone who took home the win. This was his 3rd win out of the 4 contests he has entered and is definitely making his mark in the scene. Brian Stylianou finished in 2nd and Tshenolo Khumalo in 3rd.

Stand out skaters in the 17 and over division were Anthony De Mendonca, Sam Khumalo, Kanya Spani, Sam Vider and Adam Woolf. Adam Woolf wowed the crowd with his Kickflip from the big quarter to the bank. In the end it was Kanya Spani who owned the competition by skating the whole park and landing some of the hardest tricks of the day. Kanya scores a well deserved win and took home the wild card entry to the Kimberly Diamond Cup. Anthony De Mendonca finished in 2nd place with Sam Vider following in 3rd.
