Sam Reynolds Talks Audi Nines 2019

When it comes to Freeride Mountain Biking, Sam Reynolds is always a force to be reckoned with, and at The Audi Nines 2019 it was no different. Smooth runs combined with big tricks and the best style in the game saw Reynolds take 2nd place in the Best Freeride Line.
We asked Sam a few questions about this year’s event and this is what he had to say…

Interview with Sam Reynolds about Audi Nines 2019

Take us through your week at Audi Nines?
Well everyone arrived sort of on the Monday, started warming up on the course, checking out out and by the end of the day everyone was kind of riding pretty good. Here are are at the end of it and everyone was throwing down their biggest tricks, going nuts and yeah, it was wicked.

How would you compare this year’s Audi Nines event to last year’s?
Everything had been improved slightly and it’s got bigger and better. The course was running better, there was a big open day this year with 4000 people and it was going off.

You helped with the course build again this year. It’s similar to last year but what are the main changes?
The main new thing is the massive hip at the bottom, we were trying to set new world record heights or just go proper high – a big 90 (degree) left right hip. And then we just improved on the rest of the course.

Which is you favourite feature, and why?
The new hip. It’s just crazy, it’s massive, it’s never been seen before and it’s wicked.

Take us through your bike and setup for this year’s event?
The same as usual actually. The DH9 Polygon running single speed, SR Suntour suspension, nice stiff springs, nice and light. Simple and easy to fix.

What tricks impressed you the most?
Nicholi (Rogatkin) with his 1440, that was unreal. Bienve (Aguado) did a Tsunami Frontflip, I really like that one cause I like the big motocross tricks.

(Erik) Fedko, Nicholi (Rogatkin) as always, Emil (Johansson), there was a lot of people shredding.

How would you best sum up Audi Nines 2019 in one sentence?
Fest Series made by proper Germans.
