It’s not often that we get a top-end skate tour hitting South Africa. The upcoming RVCA Skate Tour is littered with some of the very best skaters in the whole world, and they’re going to be joined by some of South Africa’s best. Curren Caples, the current X-Games champ is going to be spear heading the tour, and the other skaters are just as luminous.

Greyson Fletcher, son of the famous aerial surfing pioneer Christian Fletcher, will be on the tour, and Greyson has a particular knack of attracting a crowd. When skaters find out he’s around, they come and watch, due to his spontaneous style. Other skaters include Julian Davidson, Aidan Campbell, Kevin “Spanky” Long and Josh Harmony. They will be joined by South African skaters Yann Horowitz, Khulu Dlamini and Adrian Day.

The RVCA South Africa Skate Tour is set to run from 20 – 31 August, and is going to be full-tilt all the way through. First up is the skate jam at the Maboneng Indoor Skatepark on Saturay 22 August. Free pizza and free product giveaways. Pull in at 11 Staib Street to be part of this event.
In Durban it starts at the Valley of 1000 Hills Skatepark, before heading for the beachfront for some surfing and skating at the Durban Beachfront Public Skatepark on 25 August.
The tour finishes off in Cape Town with a skate jam with the local kids at the Mill Street Public Skatepark – Saturday 29 August, starting midday. More pizza and more product giveaways here, so it is advisable to pull in. Finally the tour closes with a signing at Baseline Skate Shop on 8 Kloof Street. Come down and hang with the boys and get some product signed.
The biggest skate tour in many years, with some of the biggest names in the sport, this is the type of skate tour that will be talked about for a long time to come.
