On Sunday 1st March the 2015 instalment of the RVCA Rolling Retro surfing event went down at Llandudno Beach in Cape Town. An offshore wind and 2 to 3 foot perfectly groomed waves greeted the contestants. All about retro moves and old school surfing, competitors hit the water on their vintage surfboards.

Stylish carves and cut-backs were the order of the day. Even the judging was based on old school criteria seeing the surfers favour moves from back in the day. This event was all about having fun and that’s what went down. The likes of Mikey February, Tristan Gardner, Royden Bryson, Jasper Eales, Dunty La Trobe and Tash Mentasti where the standout surfers throughout the comp.

Retro vibes, classic moves and a few barrels were seen throughout the day. In the end it was Royden Bryson who claimed Best Surfer. Tasha Mentasti took home Best Woman Surfer. Luke Slijpen scored Best Grom.

After prize giving the party kept going with entertainment by bands – Bilderberg Motel, The Dyna Jets, Taleswapper, Roastin’ Records and The Larter Brothers. RVCA Rolling Retro was presented by el Jimador, Vans and Vudu Surf.
