The 2014 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour finale is finally here, and on home soil at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, South Africa. Today (22nd August) saw the qualifying rounds go down on the biggest course of 2014. Riders put their skills to the test on a variety of huge boosters, super kickers, quarter pipes and dirt doubles.
The first Double Backflip ever landed on South African soil was put down by Josh Sheehan in his 2nd run. His runs included huge and technical tricks which put him into 1st place for the day. The impressive Thomas Pages did not disappoint with his insane 360’s, Body Varials, 540 Flairs and 540 Superman Flairs which put him into 2nd place. Clinton Moore was on fire today and launched his new Suicide Flat Spin finishing in 3rd place. There is no doubt Moore will be a big contender in the final tomorrow.

Unfortunately tour leader, Levi Sherwood crashed in his first run and didn’t make it out for his second run as he went in for a precautionary check up. Levi will have to battle his way out of the first round tomorrow to have a chance at besting Sheehan for the championship. Local riders Alastair Sayer and Nick de Wit gave their all under the watchful gaze of a statue of Nelson Mandela. In less than 24 hours, one of the 12 exceptional riders in the lineup will know the lifetime thrill of being crowned Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Champion.
