The final leg of the 2014 Quiksilver Takes One To Know One series saw an incredible display of surfing as SA’s best battled it out for victory. Victory Bay in the Southern Cape offered good 4 to 6 foot surf treating the spectators to high standards of surfing.

Beyrick De Vries came out on top in the Open Mens division winning every heat from the first round to the final. De Vries executed a variety of styling and innovative manoeuvres posting high scores all weekend long. The determined Michael February rivalled De Vries in the final posting three excellent scores, putting De Vries against the ropes. De Vries then took to the air and got the nod from the judges scoring a 9 point ride.

In the Junior Boys division it was Shane Sykes who scored high when it mattered most taking the overall. Jarred Veldhuis strung a pair of waves together to finish in 2nd. Dylan Lightfoot took home 3rd while Slade Prestwich took home 4th. Sykes has been a threat throughout the year and finally put it together on a big stage.

The Surfer of the Event Award was won by Dylan Lightfoot for making both the junior Boys and Open Mens finals. Beyrick De Vries’ back to back wins scored him the series win in the Open Mens while Diran Zakarian claimed the Junior Boys series win.
