The Night Harvest 2017 Review

The world’s best MTB and BMX riders made their way to Cape Town for Africa’s biggest dirt jump competition, The Night Harvest. The relaxed jam-style format makes TNH one of the most fun events for riders as well as spectators.

The weather played along this year with the rain teasing with a few sprinkles, but just enough to wet the jumps nicely and helped settle the dust which was a welcome treat during the drought in the Cape!

Each year the event grows with more international riders coming out, and this year was no exception. The crowds were spoiled to the best tricks Africa has ever seen! Double Flips, 1080s, Flip Double Whips and Flip Whips to Barspins were just a few of the bangers the boys threw down. Declan Brooks walked away with the BMX 1st place and Nick Clarke defended his title and won himself the top spot in MTB.

With all the heats in the books it was time for the grand finale, the Best Trick on the massive trick jump. In BMX it was Tom Isted who absolutely destroyed it, landing a Double Flip and a textbook Flip Superman, but it was his massive Double Barrel Roll that earned him the title.

On the MTB, Sam Reynolds was spinning a huge Cork 720, but unfortunately didn’t manage to stick it. Sweden’s Lukas Skiold is a tech master and didn’t disappoint taking the MTB Best Trick with a Flip Whip to Barspin!

Once again, The Night Harvest put on an awesome evening in Hout Bay’s bowl.
