MX vs ATV Supercross Encore Review

MX vs ATV Supercross Encore is now available for Playstation 4 and PC. We sent the game over to our fellow motocross rider / game player, Brannigan Achadinha for review. here’s his thoughts:

I’m a big fan of the MX vs ATV gaming series but unfortunately didn’t play the last release “Supercross”. I think this actually helped, as it didn’t set me up for disappointment for MX vs ATV Supercross Encore.

MX vs ATV Supercross Encore is here
The last MX vs ATV I played was fun but the controls and handling were difficult to get used to, nothing has changed in Encore. I was hoping there would be a training option or an explanation in the first few races on how the controls work, but there was nothing.

After downloading the game the menu is very plain and easy to navigate with some new modes such as MX East and MX West coast championships, the option of choosing between MX bikes or ATVs, multiple game modes including; Career, Single Races, Free Ride, and Online Multiplayer events with up to 12 players and Straight Rhythm

Straight Rhythm racing in MX vs ATV Supercross Encore
My ultimate favourite Straight Rhythm. If you’re a MX fan and have watched Red Bull Straight Rhythm before you know just how insane it can be, It’s kinda like Mad Skills but on juice in 3D.

The Career modes are pretty quick and not too rewarding once winning an East or West Coast championship. Not knowing the controls in the beginning proved very hard to win races but once you’ve worked out how to use your pre-load and clutch, the races become really competitive and heart wrenching. Scrubbing and whipping is amazing but again extremely difficult to get right. Once you have mastered it you will whip and scrub all day long.

With 12 Outdoor Nationals tracks and 2 Open World environments, similar to MX vs ATV Alive, Free Ride and Waypoint racing, MX vs ATV Supercross Encore will keep you entertained for Hours on end.

We review MX vs ATV Supercross Encore
There haven’t been any big changes in visuals but the slight enhancements that have been made are good enough for now, but there’s definitely space for improvement.

The customisation of your rider and bike has changed a bit and adding bum patch logos and your name and number to your jersey is pretty cool. It’s great to have the option of 2016 licensed gear sets and aftermarket parts for your bike. The cherry on top would be the option of licensed bikes.

Overall Mx vs ATV Supercross Encore is a great and fun game, and for anyone that rides or is a fan of motocross is going to fall in love with it. After mastering the difficult controls and handling in this game you will find new opponents to push your skill levels and become the ultimate champion.

I give this game a 5/10.
There is lots of room to improve on visuals, physics, controls and glitchy frame rates.
