After a week of insane surfing action the 2014 Mr Price Pro Ballito is in the books. Unfortunately no South African competitors made it through to the final rounds but American Timmy Reyes took the overall, scoring the biggest win of his career, beating Australian Matt Wilkinson in the final.

The former WCT campaigner turned big wave free surfer put on the performance of his life in the final with an opening score of 7.17 taking the early lead. Wilkinson went on to score a 9.2 but Reyes maintained composure and sat wide to find the wave. Under Wilkinson’s priority Reyes got his wave and scores 8.27 to secure his victory. Reyes’s performance saw him score 6500 ranking points, taking him from 131st on the QS ranking to number 5 in the world, and a cool $40 000. The win has also opened the door for a chance to requalify for the 2015 WCT.

Wilkinson netted some of the highest scoring waves during the contest including a 9.90 in the Semi but he failed to find the second high score in the final and had to settle for 2nd place. Tiago Pires and Adam Melling finished in equal 3rd place respectively.

Filipe Toledo, Jadson Andre, Dillon Perillo and Jack Freestone were all knocked out in the Quarters finishing in equal 5th.
