Making his return to riding and competing after breaking his arm earlier this year, Max Fredriksson stomped his redemption at The Audi Nines by landing the trick that broke his arm – the Backflip Barspin to Tailwhip.
Max was back to full form and shredding all week long. We caught up with the Swedish rider to get his thoughts on the event and more…
What were you first impressions on the new Audi Nines course and venue?
I got here, looked up and there was a full playground of jumps, and all of them were huge [laughs].
What was it like riding the course for the first time?
Big. All of the jumps are really big and they run really smooth as well.
What are your thoughts on the new contest format?
It’s sick. We can just ride as normal and session together all week long, and then they pick out some cool lines. There’s no stress or anything, it’s just cool times riding with your buddies.
What does an event like Audi Nines mean to you?
It’s for sure one of the sickest ones all year. It’s all about having fun and getting some cool content, so it’s a really sick week for me.
Which is your favourite feature?
I love the Big Air. All the measurements and everything just click, everything is perfect.
Did you make any changed to you bike in order to ride a course like this?
Not really. My jump bike is the same as I run it all year long. I actually have a new Downhill bike here this year and I got it a week before the event, it’s a bit smaller than my usual Downhill bike so I can do flips and stuff on it.
Which riders impressed you the most?
Everyone is impressing me, everyone that comes to this event is insane. Anywhere you look people are sending insane stuff. I really enjoy watching Nicholi (Rogatkin) cause he always has sick tricks in the bag, and on the big bike I really enjoy watching Ethan Nell, such a steezy guy.
Take us through your dream Audi Nines line or trick?
I’m trying to do a new trick I’ve never done before. I broke my arm earlier in the year on a Backflip Barspin to Tailwhip and I got the redemption here. I want to add some things into that, just to make a statement to myself I guess. I want to a Backflip Double-Barspin to Tailwhip on the Big Air.
