Meet this week’s LW Babe, the smoking hot Playboy Playmate Kate Lovemore! This Durban honey is into bodyboarding and now trying her hand at surfing, which is a given as she is dating one of South Africa’s top big wave surfers, Grant ‘Twiggy” Baker.
Kate admits to feeling comfortable posing naked in front of the camera and in her opinion there is nothing sexier than posing naked on the beach in the sun with no one worrying her. Definitely a thought that gets our temperature rising!

Playboy Playmate March 2012 – what has the experience of being a Playboy Playmate been like?
It has been a lot of fun. I’ve had the opportunity to be on radio a few time which I Love. The parties have also been a heap of fun.
What made you decide to pose for Playboy?
It has been a dream of mine for a long time.
Where you nervous being naked in front of the camera or did it come naturally?
I was a little nervous at first but Once I got into it, it came naturally.
What would you say was the sexiest part of posing naked?
Just being in my comfortable beach environment and being able to lay in the sand and sun completely naked with no one worrying me was amazing.
What would you say to any models that are second guessing about posing for Playboy?
If it is something you have always wanted to do and if you are comfortable in their own skin then go for. Also make sure your family and loved ones are comfortable with you doing it and that you have their support.
What do you do to keep yourself in such good shape?
I love running on the Umhlanga promenade most mornings. I train with Justin Radford at Just Results where we do boxing and weights and a lot of stomach exercises. I’m loving the boxing. It’s an amazing workout! I also bodyboard and am trying my hand at surfing.
You are dating one of SA’s legends of Surfing – Grant Twig Baker – what is it like dating a surfer?
It’s amazing. I get to travel with him to beautiful places and meet amazing people. It’s a great feeling to be able to share waves together too. I’ll go out on my bodyboard while he surfs and there is nothing better than the feeling of being in the sun and sea together.
Did he get you into surfing or being a Durban girl where you already riding waves before you met him?
I was a bodyboarder long before I met Twiggy but I’m slowly trying to learn to stand ha ha, I can SUP which is lots of fun and a great core workout. I have just been given a Mimi Mal by Spider Murphy so now that the temps are warming up I will be learning to surf.
Do you ever get scared when Grant is away surfing “Big Waves”?
Sometimes I will get a funny feeling about a trip (as women do) and I will just tell him to be careful. But he is a professional at what he does and I trust his judgement on the calls he makes.
What’s your take on the increase of shark attacks on Surfers?
It’s quite tricky one but I would say that there are a lot more surfers in the water these days and sharks have also been protected for so long that there are a lot more of them in the water too. There is also an increase in chumming and in my opinion I would think that the sharks are now associating humans with food?
Do you freak out at all when you’re in the water and you see the dreaded shadow?
Touch wood, to date I have never seen the dreaded shadow and to be quite honest I think I would walk on water ha ha.
Have you tried out any other types of altyernative sports?
No but I’m dying to go sky diving.
Tell us your idea of the perfect getaway?
At the end of last year we spent the big wave season in Hawaii and stayed with friends. That was amazing! I’m not one for big fancy hotels (although they are a wonderful treat when you have been on the road for a while) I got to bodyboard and keep fit and film some amazing big wave sessions. Basically, any island getaway with turquoise water, friends and Twiggy is a perfect 10 for me.
Sleeping naked, in a T-Shirt or Pyjamas? Naked.
Glass of wine or a cocktail? Cocktail.
A night in or a night out on the town? Depends what mood I’m in…if it’s raining then night in.
Foreplay or straight to the business? Little foreplay.
