The Hood to Hood finals took place at the Kimberley Diamond Cup Skateboarding event this past week which saw some of SA’s best skaters form 4-man teams and compete against each other in a jam format contest for the R25k first prize.
All skaters put everything on the line and impressed the judges with top class skateboarding. “Here by Chance” put on a clinical display of skating, taking out the “Dope/Plankie” team and landing them in 3rd place overall with a R5k cash prize.

After several attempts at a Kickflip Front Boardslide, Brandon Valjalo finally pulled the trick just in time for the buzzer for his team, “Woolf’s and Two Other Dudes”. The Woolf brothers lay it down as well with Adam Woolf landing seven Kickflips over the rail and a Kickflip Back Lipslide. David Woolf put down some impressive Frontslides and Front Nosegrinds lending every try. Anthony De Mendonca did not disappoint the team with his flawless skating. The “Woolf’s and Two Other Dudes” finished in 2nd place and took home R10k.

In the end it was “The Scumbags” that blew the mind of the judges and fans alike. Braxton Haine’s Back NoseBlunts, Jean-marc Johannes’ Kickflip Melon’s, Dlamini Dlamini’s Frontside Flips over the rail and Khule Ngubane’s stylish trick and consistency put the team into 1st place overall seeing the team earn themselves a cool R25k.

One of the coolest contest of the Kimberley Diamond Cup event which saw the progression of skateboarding being pushed to new levels.
