Durban local, Khulu Dlamini is currently on the RVCA South Africa Skate Tour with the RVCA USA Pro Team. We caught up with him to chat about this opportunity and what it means to local skateboarding.

Firstly, tell us a bit about what it means to have some top international names coming out here?
I think its f*cking amazing to have these guys coming out here. Never thought I’d be on a Thrasher trip with guys I’ve looked up to all these years. Mad pumped!
Do you know any of the international guys and what can you tell us about any of them?
All I can say is they are all a bunch of amazing skateboarders. I spent some time with Spanky when he was on his honeymoon, and we had a good time and spoke about this trip happening, that guy is a G! I’m really hyped to be hanging out with him again and to be on this trip with him.
How do you approach a tour like this? Are there a few nerves about stepping it up and doing the business in front of the international cats, or are you just amped for a chilled tour?
There are definitely a lot of f*cking nerves but having these guys out here and going on tour with them means I gotta push my shit. So I’m not amped for a chilled tour I want ish to get turned!

Which stop are you most looking forward to hitting, and why?
I would say Joburg, coz it’s been a while since I’ve been out there so I’m hoping to see different spots that I haven’t seen because that motherf*cking city be beeg as f*ck.
Along the way you guys will be sessioning with some of the local kids, do you think this kind of thing is important?
For the kids to see local guys touring with international pros will hopefully push their skateboarding. And, it will inspire them to keep skating more and in the near future they could be doing the same as we are right now.
Anything you’d like to add?
I love myself. Peace out and this is going to be the illest shit ever, BOOM! Thanks RVCA, you’re the shit .
