KDC Grand Slam Cresta Mall Review

The 2nd Kimberley Diamond Cup Grand Slam skateboarding contest of 2014 took place at Cresta Shopping Centre in Joburg on Saturday, 28th June, seeing hundreds of skaters and spectators enjoy an action packed day of skating and entertainment. Live performances by Man As Machine and beatboxer Jed Nery added to awesomeness of the event.

In the Under 16 division it was Jeremy Stone who again owned the competition with awesome trick selection and consistency through the contest. Mark Linzi stepped up his game and claimed 2nd place while Michael Stylianou finished in 3rd. The groms threw down hard showing that the future is looking bright.

The caliber of skating in the Over 17 division was some of the best seen all year. Skaters from all over the country were there to represent, including 20SK8’s Shuaib Philander who’s skating put him into 3rd place overall. Kanya Spani threw down Back Noseblunts and Hurricanes on the A-Frame backed up some big moves on the other sections which put him into 2nd place. It was Alan Morola who was unbeatable with his trick selection and smooth skating earning him 1st place and the wildcard entry into the Kimberley Diamond Cup finals in October. Kanya Spani took home the Best Trick award with his Kickflip Front 50-50 down the hubba.

In the Rider Cup finals it was team Packing the Heat of Kanya Spani, Alan Morola, Wesley Schroeder and Dlamini Dlamini who took home a cool R10 000.

Preparation for the next KDC Grand Slam is already underway and will be taking place at Gateway in Durban on the 26th July. Don’t miss it.

1st – Jeremy Stone (R800 + R2000 Boogaloos voucher)
2nd – Mark Linzi (R400 + R1500 Boogaloos voucher)
3rd – Michael Stylianou (R300 + R1000 Boogaloos voucher)
