Jozi X – Night Sessions

Every Wednesday night the awesome okes at Jozi X in Bryanston, JHB hold a night session where you can try your luck at slacklining, bag jump or mountain boarding.

If you have no idea what we’re talking about here is a brief explanation:

Slackline: is distinct from tightrope walking but the dynamic flat nature of the line allows for impressive tricks and stunts.

Bag jump: Basically a huge blown up bag that can take an impact of a human attached to any form of non-motorised equipment such as a BMX or Mountain Board. The perfect way to learn new tricks.

Mountain boarding: Pretty much self-explanatory! The mountain board is a form of a skateboard which had been adapted to go off-road as well as hit obstacles.

Ok so now that that is out the way…

On Wednesday night some of the LW Crew decided to go check out what all the fuss was about – and even though we woke up the next morning stiff and bruised we had the biggest jol at Jozi-X – we’re still smiling.

We pretty much tried our luck at the Bag Jump with a BMX, with the first hit being damn scary but once used to it, Ryan was going for 360’s and Nick for Backflips! Even Franki from Rockstar Energy Drink had a couple of hits. We shared the Bag Jump with some mountain boarders that were in the process of learning new tricks also in order to help them with their snowboarding tricks as the snowboard season is around the corner

We then moved onto the Mountain Board Park where we left it to the pros and rather watched and took pics. These guys were going off, hitting rails, table tops, jumps and an insane wall ride at the end of the run. Definitely something we’ll try out in the future.

Finally we took a walk over to the Slacklining Park. Marco from Jozi-X showed us how it was done but this is definitely a discipline that will take some time to master but will teach you some great balance and strengthen your core. We all had our chances but with not much success except for Nick who had some natural talent on the line.

Without a doubt we suggest this to anyone who would like to try out any of the disciplines on offer or even just wants to try something different.

Jozi-X will be open every Wednesday night for their night sessions from 5:30pm with professional staff on hand to help you out with anything.

Costs:

Slackline: R50.00

Bag Jump: R50.00

Mountain Boarding: R150.00

All Three: R150.00
