The 2013 Hurley SA Junior Surfing Champs was completing in perfect 1.5 metre waves at Lower Point in Jeffreys Bay yesterday. We have the final results here for you to check out.
Western Cape accumulated the highest points over the championship to take the Provincial Team Freedom Cup. The province last won the team title in 2011 in Durban. Eastern Province finished in 2nd with Kwazulu-Natal Central in 3rd.
11year old Kai Woolf put on an outstanding performance all contest lond and earned herself the Hurley Surfer of the Contest award of a trip to Bali worth R20 000 presented by All Aboard Travel. Kai won the U13 Girls title as well as the Oakley Highest Heat Score award for her 18.75 score our of a possible 20.
Angelo Faulker took his second title in a row in the U13 Boys division with a determined performance and a score of 14.75 to narrowly beat Koby Oberholzer who scores 14.15.
Ruth Armstrong was crowned the U15 Girls champion who battled it out with Cana Foster and took the win by only 0.50 of a point. Crystal Hulett finished in 3rd.
Ethan Fletcher surfed a stellar final in the U15 Boys division and posted a perfect 10 score backed by an 8.50 to come out victorious. Jordy Maree took 2nd and Jake Elkington took 3rd.
Teal Hogg took the U17 Girls title with a come from behind victory in the dying seconds over Robyn van der Merwe in 2nd place.
Matt McGillivray was a stand our performer in the U17 Boys division and clinched the title ahead of Dylan Wichmann in 2nd, Steff Burrows in 3rd and Max Armstrong in 4th.
