With the 2019 Downhill MTB World Cup season literally about to kick off, we managed to have a quick catch up with the G.O.A.T, Greg Minnaar, to talk about his new Santa Cruz V10 and how he’s feeling going into the season.
You have just built up your new Santa Cruz V10 Downhill bike for the 2019 season. How would you best sum-up the new bike?
How much does this bike compare and differ from last season’s bike?
It’s very similar, frame is identical, but the linkage curve is slightly different.
The bike has all black paint graphic which looks super cool. How much input did you have into the look of the bike?
Nothing at all, this is all done in house by the Santa Cruz design team.
What are your highlight features of the V10?
Probably the custom paint graphics.
Which components on the bike are your favourite, and why?
The grips and tires. I had the most input in these products.
With the 2019 race season kicking off, how are you feeling going into the season?
I’m feeling pretty good. I haven’t got much racing under the belt but I’ve had a lot of bike time, way more than usual.
What are you plans and goals for the 2019 season?
Same as every year, trying to be consistently on the podium and hopefully bag a couple wins on the way.
Which races are you looking forward to most?
All of them really. I’m just really keen to get back racing. I think after not racing so much last year because of injury, I’m just really fired up to race.
What can we expect from The Syndicate this year?
New Truck, three excited riders and a whole lot of fun.
To JHB’s flashiest puzzler, Grant Page.
