The 2017 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup in Vallnord, Andorra produced the most exciting race of the season!
Danny Hart was back on form with one if the craziest, on the edge runs, we’ve ever seen posting a time of 4:08.642. A time that looked to hold up for the win, until Minnaar took to the hill.
Greg Minnaar, as smooth as always, ate into Hart’s time sector-by-sector finishing in an incredible time of 4:06.456. Though, a small bobble in one of the final turns would ultimately cost Minnaar the victory.
Troy Brosnan, after qualifying 1st, was the last rider on the hill. Brosnan crossed the line in 4:06.236 to claim the victory, beating Minnaar by just 0.220 seconds.
Minnaar has extended his points lead to 672 points, 103 points ahead of Aaron Gwin in 2nd place.
Myriam Nicole dominated the Women’s final with a run 2.997 seconds ahead of 2nd place’s Tahnee Seagrave with a time of 4:53.983. Marine Cabirou finished in 3rd place with her time of 4:59.027. Rachel Atherton returned from injury and finished in a respectable 4th place. Four races in and four different winners in the Women’s division, making for an exciting championship as we head into the second half of the season.
