Entries Open For The Rip Curl Gromsearch Port Alfred

The highly anticipated Rip Curl GromSearch Junior Surfing Tournament will take place in the idyllic coastal town of Port Alfred from 28-30 July 2023. This event promises to showcase the very best junior surfing in South Africa.

The highly anticipated Rip Curl GromSearch Junior Surfing Tournament will take place in the idyllic coastal town of Port Alfred from 28-30 July 2023.

The Rip Curl GromSearch will feature a multitude of talented junior surfers, each eager to make their mark on the waves. With divisions spanning various age groups, from U12s to U18s, the tournament provides a platform for these young athletes to showcase their abilities and passion for the sport. 

In the U12 boys, Marcello Zedde is the standout, with three GromSearch wins under his belt, and in the U12 Girls, Maya Malherbe also has three wins. 

The U14 Boys has Ben Esterhuyse up front, with Nathan Tayler hot on his heels. At the same time, the U14 Girls has been dominated by Emily Jenkinson, with Jasmine Venter close behind.

The U18 Boys has been a close affair the whole year. Currently, Rory Dace looks the strongest, along with Levi Epenetos. In the U18 Girls, Anastasia Venter and Louise Lepront have been battling it out.

In the premier U16 Boys division, Levi Epenetos and Rory Dace come out on top, with Cooper Smith on their heels. In contrast, in the premier U16 Girls division, Anastasia Venter, Louise Lepront and Emily Jenkinson are the on-form surfers.

The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are all Premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per all premier events. The U16 division is recognised as the main division at the GromSearch contests.
