The African leg of the 2016 Element Make It Count skateboarding contest took place on Freedom Day at The Shred Skate Park in Cape Town. The turnout was incredible, with close to 100 skaters competing in the event and a decent amount of spectators present, in total packing the venue to capacity with about 180 people. Element ambassador Dallas Overholzer took care of the commentary.
The main event was won by a stoked Allan Adams, brother of last year’s winner Moses Adams. The level of skating and competitiveness was impressively high. In the finals it came down to the wire and winner Allan Adams only just managed to overtake fellow skater Khule Ngubane. Shuaib Philander took the 3rd place, followed by Byron Rhoda. The 14 and under division was won by Tyler Kammies.
