A new MMA chapter was written at EFC 71 when the DRC’s Champion Dalcha did what had been ruled as impossible, and defeated Andrew van Zyl to claim the Heavyweight title. The Flyweight champion, Nkazimulo Zulu retained his title by defeating Brazil’s Magno Alves.
Dalcha unleashing creative punch combinations that continually landed and continued to show that his lighter weight and speed was in fact a devastating weapon. The Heavyweights traded massive blows, and there were takedowns from both sides. In the Fifth Van Zyl hunted a circling Dalcha relentlessly, finally landing smashing short range strikes, but it was too little, too late.
Alves stunned all with a quick takedown and a succession of heel hook and knee bar attempts. Zulu defend one after the other, and as soon as he had both feet free he set about landing ferocious punches from top position seeing the ref call the fight.
