Cool Inc Tattoo Expo 2014 Review

The annual Cool Inc Tattoo Expo took place from the 19th – 21st September and resulted in a very successful event. Hosted at a new venue being the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria, the clean and welcoming vibe added to that success. Not only were expo goers treated to various stalls setup by some of the country’s best tattoo shops and artists, they were also treated to live entertainment by some of the best band in the South African music Industry.

The experience walking around the expo was chilled and friendly with the opportunity to put a face to the name of appraised tattoo artists. The chance to see the artists work on display as well as watch them in action first hand was awesome. Each stall had a mass of info and pictures giving info about the shop, its artist and the industry. There we also some cool suspension demos on display which freaked a few people out. The hall was filled with the sounds of tattoo machines, the smells of a tattoo shop, sweet beats provided by the various bands and DJ’s, and the chatter of like minded people.

Artist’s tattoo work was judged in the various categories – portrait, large black and grey, small black and grey, large colour and small colour. The large black and grey and large colour were the most competitive categories. All in all the 2014 Cool Inc Tattoo Expo really what a great experience and we’re already looking forward to see whats in store in 2015.
