American Zack Yankush, aka Catfish, is a house hold name and personality in the BMX industry. His massive passion for BMX and working his dream job at the DK Bicycle Company for the past ten years means that he knows the ins and outs of the sport better than most.
South Africa will have the privilege of Catfish commentating at both the upcoming Ultimate X (27 and 28 February) and The Night Harvest (6 March) events in Cape Town. We caught up with the dude to get his thoughts on the trip and the events.

How amped are you to be heading out to South Africa?
I can’t even tell you how pumped I am! This will be my second time to South Africa and I can’t wait to come back!
You will be at both Ultimate X and The Night Harvest commentating. How much do you know about these events and what are your thoughts on them?
I did Night Harvest last year and it was incredible. The longest running dirt contest in South Africa. Last year we thought it was going to get rained out but the rained stopped and the fans stayed and it turned out to be one of the most fun comps ever!
I’ve never been to Ultimate X but I know it’s a huge event for South African action sports. The BMX scene is so massive and I’m really excited to see what the boys have. Not to mention I was pulling for my homie Brandon Blight to get that wild card and he did! It’s gonna be a good one!
One being a park event and the other a dirt event, which are you looking forward to most and why?
To be honest, I think both are going to be awesome. Both are going to be parties you won’t want to miss!

In your opinion, what can the fans expect from these events?
I know both events will have a good international representation so we will see some big names, but like I mentioned, South Africa has so much talent in country, I’m sure we will see some insane riding from the locals.
What else are you hoping to experience while over here?
Just enjoying the county, riding with as many of the locals as I can, and take advantage of being able to go everywhere barefoot.
Any words for the masses that will be out supporting the events and the athletes?
I would just let everyone know that there is so much talent right here in SA and this will be the biggest showcase of that local talent. Come out and support your neighbours!
