Last weekend the inaugural Cape Town Pro surfing contest presented by Quiksilver took place at Big Bay in Bloubergstrand and saw Peru’s Joaquin Del Castillo take the man’s title and South Africa’s Tanika Hoffman the women’s title.
In the semi finals Joaquin Del Castillo beat Beyrick de Vries and Dylan Lightfoot beat Michael February to move into the final. Del Castillo met Lightfoot in the final scoring 7.33 and 8.67 which Lightfoot could not match.
Tanika Hoffman faced Faye Zoetmulder in a closely matched final with both surfers posing high scores. Hoffman took the lead with an 8.83 score. Tarryn Chudleigh and Nikita Robb finished equal 3rd after losing in their semi final encounters.
