What is #BMXDAY?
#BMXDAY is day of the year, celebrated world wide in honour of the sport. Basically getting all the homies together and having a good time on your BMX.

Where will the jam be held this year?
Johannesburg CBD.

Why Johannesburg, are the spots any different to any other major city in SA?
The fact that Johannesburg is an urban jungle, it holds some of the best street spots in the country. It is a big city and new spots are always found.

How does it feel getting the local scene together for a common goal?
It’s awesome to have all the riders in one place. The BMX scene in South Africa is small, so for everyone to come together from around the country to ride their bikes reminds me that BMXers are a family. So I’m Stoked.

Can anyone just come and take part?
Yes definitely. If you love BMX or interested in what it is, this day will welcome you into the BMX community lifestyle.

Any young rippers we should be on the look out for?
There are always riders popping up that no one knows of, and I’m sure this year wont be any different. But some young guns to keep an eye out for are Safwaan Cook from Cape Town and Nathi Steeze from Johannesburg. The dudes are killing it right now.

We heard you’re going to be on the road for a week leading up to #BMXDAY. Care to share any details on this?
Yes that is correct. The Vans ZA BMX team, which consists of Myself, Buddy Chellan and Malcolm Peters will be in Durban filming for a Vans ZA BMX team trip edit. Kevin Schnider will be onboard to film. We’ll start in Durban and make our way to Johannesburg for BMX Day, and then end the day off with a screening of the Vans Illustrated BMX Dvd. So make sure you’re there for that.

Any final words or thank yous?
Thanks to Ryan Franklin and Colin Loudon for making the day possible. Also a big thank you to Warren Talbot and Vans ZA, and of course LW Mag for always showing love for BMX.
See you Guys there! #beapartofit
