Bradley Cox has just come off a perfect 2013 Motocross season, taking the 125 Highschool championships in both the WOMSA and MSA national series. This sweet video edit of Bradley smashing one of his local MX tracks has just been released, so we decided to hook up an interview with the champ. Watch the video, see what he had to say about it and what he has planned for the future.
Which track was your video “Out The Box” filmed at?
The track is called Highstakes, it’s on my next door neighbour’s farm, it’s 1km from my house.
What part of the track is your favourite and why?
I definitely like the up and down hills, the jumps are nice to scrub and whip and there’s nothing better then landing on the back wheel and wheeling up the hill just because the bikes power is great.
What are your thoughts on the video and did you capture what you wanted?
This is my 1st ever professional video and I love it. It’s awesome, it’s something different with me going backwards and it’s just what having fun on a bike is about. Wheelies, whips, scrubs, armswag and of course the rev limiter [laughs].
Give us a list of your favourite tracks in SA and the reasons why?
PE and the old Hammersdale track, both tracks are sandy, I love the sand, and it gets really rough which is good for training. I also enjoy Teza as it’s just like the GP tracks in Europe.
Which classes did you race this season and how did you finish up?
I raced both the WOMZA and MSA championship in the 125 HighSchool class and I managed to get both titles in both championships.
You’ve also done a few Enduro’s. How do you fair in that type of racing?
I love Enduro’s, they are something different from racing Motocross every weekend, I really enjoy doing the odd race. It’s always fun to struggle in the bush for a good few hours [laughs]. Next year I will be doing the Roof Of Africa as I’m finally age allege-able, which is going to be really cool.
Which do you prefer, MX or Enduro?
That’s a hard one, umm… I’ll have to say MX is my 1st passion, I just prefer it more.
Explain the ultimate feeling when you’re on your dirt bike?
I guess you could say the ultimate feeling is just going fast and when you can link sections together to make that prefect lap you need is awesome. Winning is also pretty nice feeling [laughs].
What’s next for Bradley Cox?
In 2014 I’ll be heading over to Europe to race full time on the European circuit, I’m really excited to try and reach my goals, everything is in place it’s just up to me now to produce good results. Going to be sad to leave all my family and friends but it’s an opportunity I can’t miss.
