Will all the hype around this fight, how are you making sure to keep focused?
Boyd: I stick to my routine and place myself around the people that allow me to perform at 100%.
Don: I don’t let the hype get to me, I am only focusing on going in and doing a job.
What is your opinion of the huge hype around this fight?
Boyd: We are two top athletes in different divisions, it’s always an interesting occasion.
Don: I think it is going to be a great fight for the fans. We both like to let loose so it should make for a real show down, and one I can’t wait for.
Since this fight was announced, have you changed up anything in your training programme?
Boyd: Not really, we train all year round and focus on the all round MMA game.
Don: I was training for someone who also liked to trade so not really. Although I always need to be prepared for who I am fighting, I need to focus on my game and what I can do first and foremost.
How do you think your opponent is preparing for this fight?
Boyd: To the best of his ability, as am I.
Don: As I said, I know he likes to throw his hands so I am sure that is part of his game, but he is a well rounded fighter, so I just need to focus on what I need to do.
How do you think your opponent is going to come into this fight?
Boyd: Fit, strong and ready.
Don: He is on a good run at the moment, so I am sure he is going to be confident. But I don’t think he has faced anyone like me before, so he is in for a surprise.
What can fans expect from this fight come EFC Africa 30 on the 5th June?
Boyd: There will always be 1 winner and 1 loser. The better athlete on the night will take it.
Don: I’m coming to rip someone apart. I love fighting in front of my Cape Town fans and they’re going to see a beast out there.
What are your pros and cons of this fight taking place in Cape Town?
Boyd: There are no pros or cons. The fight takes place in the hex just like every other fight.
Don: There are no cons. I have an unbelievable fan base in Cape Town and they bring out the best in me.
How do you see the fight going?
Boyd: That’s not something I can answer.
Don: One way.
