How would you best sum up the 2022 Street Lines Skate Tournament?
The Street Lines competition was fantastic. My favourite part was the atmosphere and how everyone hyped you up to get a trick.
What was your highlight of the day?
My highlight was seeing so many legends skating the contest, people I used to watch skating competitions when I was a lot younger.
How does the Thrashers Skatepark suit your style of skating?
It is a super fun Skatepark and has a good variety of big and small obstacles.

Coming into the contest, what were your expectations?
I expected the competition to be full of good vibes and great energy and it was exactly that, and more.
What does it mean to you to have defended your Women’s division title?
I’m glad I was able to have been the overall winner, but most of all, I’m just super happy I was able to do the new tricks I’ve learned in the comp.
Which skaters impressed you the most on the day, and why?
Rebecca (Wyborn) impresses me a lot with her consistency, and she’s still very young. I feel like in the future she’ll definitely be a challenge and that’s exciting for me as well.

What do you feel an event like Street Lines does for Skateboarding in South Africa and where would you like to see it go?
I feel like Street Lines is really pushing equality in the sport and pushing us as individuals to progress as well, while also making the community more aware of the sport.
What’s next for Boipelo Awuah?
I would just like to progress and improve as not only a skateboarder but as an individual as well.
Any shout-outs?
Shout out to all the upcoming female skaters in not only South Africa but Africa as a whole, to all the individuals pushing to helping grow the female skate scene, and I would also like to give a shout out to my parents.
